Karina is helping keep America beautiful by teaming up with Keep America Beautiful for The Great American Cleanup, which took place this past weekend around the country.
Karina is involved in many environmental causes. For example, her Los Angeles dance studio is the first LEED certified studio in the country.
“It’s so important to have an eco-friendly lifestyle,” Karina told SheKnows reporter Meagan Morris. “I’m always open for ways to improve my environmental impact.”
Karina participated in Keep America Beautiful’s first “National Day of Action” on April 28th. Events were planned all over the country with large-scale cleanups of parks and public areas.
In 2011, more than 3.8 million volunteers in 16,500 communities took part in 30,600 Great American Cleanup events. The result was the removal of 177 million pounds of litter and debris, and the recycling of 290+ million plastic bottles, 7.9 million pounds of electronics and 13.4 million pounds of aluminum and steel.
